Gower Veterinary Surgery

Gower Veterinary Surgery is a Linnaeus practice in Swansea and also operates as a Veterinary Nurse Training facility. Reviews consistently point to routine care and short-notice appointments being available, with prompt treatment mentioned in urgent cases. Recent feedback is largely positive about the clinical team’s handling and care, though there is some mixed feedback about reception and one very poor small-pet consultation experience.

Services

•Routine veterinary care, including general health checks and vaccinations. Reviews mention Lucy carrying out examinations and vaccines for two dogs.
•Short-notice and acute appointments, with owners describing being seen without an appointment while on holiday, as well as last-minute visits for pets in discomfort.
•Clinical examination, prescribing and ongoing treatment, including examples of medication being started promptly for skin and ear problems. Treatments mentioned in reviews include steroids, antibiotics, medicated baths and ear drops.
•Support for ongoing and sensitive care needs, including help with anxious pets, monthly treatment continuity, and end-of-life support and guidance.

•Katie: thanked for listening, answering questions, and supporting an owner through end-of-life care.
•Reception team: reviews are mixed, with some owners describing them as friendly and helpful, while others report booking and rescheduling problems.

We recently transferred to Gower Vets, and the team made Danny and Coco’s first visit completely seamless and welcoming. The friendly service and high standard of care immediately showed us we made the right choice.

I took my hamster here as she had a lump on her side. The vet didn’t even know the proper name( Nipper Harris). The vet wasn’t confident and didn’t even pick Nipper Harris up, she asked me to do that. There was no proper examination and as a result wrongly diagnosed Nipper Harris as having an abscess and proscribed antibiotics. I took Nipper Harris to a different veterinary practice a few days later as her condition had worsened. It turned out she had a cancerous tumour and the best option was to have her put to sleep. I now have to deal with the issue of Nipper Harris may have been in considerable pain in between visits. I will NEVER use this surgery again and advise people to do the same.

Lovely Vet Lucy gave my Tibetan Terrier boyz Harry, age 9 and Teddy 2 a clean bill of health, happy with their weight, teeth and general health, and administered vaccines no problem. Thank you Lucy 😊

We have been with Gower Vets for 4 years, and have been on Pet Plan with the surgery from the very start. From our experience, reception staff have always been helpful and friendly, manager Jo has always returned my contact and went out of her way to ensure our pet did not miss his monthly treatment, when i realised very last minute we had run out and were due to go on holiday. Our pet suffers with anxiety and on our last visit nurse Chloe went above and beyond, not only taking the time, but showing care, understanding and really wanting to try and help with the anxiety. What a difference this makes to not only our pet but to us too. We cant express how grateful we are to Gower Vets. Thank You

Suggest the vet to change the topical cream for my cat as she is suffering from sever feline acne for quite some time. She didn't look at antibiotic cream , had no idea . And suggested things to do which everybody knows. Wont be going there . Total waste of money and time .

Please change people who sit on reception and accept calls. I called them and they did not have a slot to book an appointment for me today (said the latest was 3:45, I needed around 6), my partner called 30 minutes later and they gladly booked him at 6. And after booking him they called after 40 minutes and left a voicemail that they have to reschedule the appointment. 4 hours of notice. So unprofessional. Maybe the vets there are good (we did not get a change to try), but receptionists are utterly terrible.
